Following the commitment of the Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah, the government in a significant decision today ordered the release of additional instalment of 7 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) in favour of the State government pensioners/family pensioners with effect from July 1, 2008.
With this, the State government pensioners/family pensioners shall be paid DA allowance at the rate of 7 per cent of pension/family pension raising the DA allowance payable with effect from July 1, 2008 from 47 per cent to 54 per cent of pension/family pension from April 1, 2009.
The decision will benefit around 70,000 State government pensioners.
According to a government order issued here today, the Personal pension, if any, shall not be taken into account for determining DA on pension. Further, other provisions governing grant of DA on pension/DA pension/family pension such as regulation of DA during employment/re-employment, regulation of DA where more than one pension is drawn and other provision of the existing orders/rules shall continue to remain in force.
The Dearness Allowance, as per this order, shall heretofore be paid by the concerned Treasury Officers/paying branches of the J&K Bank, without waiting for further authorization from the Accountant General/General Manager, J&K Bank as per the practice in vogue.
The government has also ordered release of pension/family pension in terms of SRO 94 dated April 15, 2009 to the State government pensioners/family pensioners with effect from July 1, 2009. The modalities of the payment of pension revision arrears covering the period from January 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009 shall be notified separately. During the intervening period, the pension/family pension shall continue to be paid on existing rates heretofore.
