Terming people as a real source of power, Minister for Finance and senior National Conference leader Mr. A.R. Rather said unity among secular forces is key to development of the Jammu and Kashmir. He said people are intelligent enough to reject the communal and sectarian ideologies that have crept in the state. He said these elements are trying to weaken the Article 370 which gives the state a special position in the Indian Union and warned them that their efforts would not succeed. Addressing a series of public meeting at Pakherpora, Chrar-i-Sharief and Teilsar, Mr. Rather said the progress of the state is not possible without the assistance from centre.
Praising Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson, he said owing to love for the state they sanctioned Rs. 24000 crores package which was misappropriated by the PDP government.
He accused PDP of hollow sloganeering and hoodwinking public opinion by lofty ideas like self rule, dual currency and demilitarization.
He said people in the last Assembly elections have rejected PDP and the party has started sensing its defeat in the ongoing parliamentary elections also.
