11231 IG Units set up in Baramulla

Under District Credit Plan of last fiscal, 11231 income generating units were set up in Baramulla district for which various banks provided loans to the tune of Rs. 183.26 crore. The targets under current year plan for the district have been set at an amount of Rs. 250.53 crore benefiting 17500 families.

This was stated at a district level review meeting (DLRM) held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Mr. Latif-u-Zaman Deva.

Representatives of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks and government departments attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that during the last fiscal, Rs. 120.49 crore including Rs. 56.65 crore under agriculture, Rs. 1.12 crore under small scale industries (SSI) and Rs. 62.72 crore have been advanced under other priority sectors in Baramulla district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasised upon the bankers and sponsoring agencies to work with close coordination to achieve the goals and targets. He directed the agencies for conducting block level awareness programmes about the schemes so that the people could avail benefits by these schemes.

The RBI representative Mr. Pawan Agarwal impressed upon the bankers to ensure speed up the process of issuing of Kissan Credit Cards.

Among other, local heads of various banks including RBI besides officers of line departments were present on the occasion.
