Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas presently working as Associate Professor, The Business School and in Centre for Hospitality & Tourism Management, University of Jammu and also the Coordinator, Global Understanding Course upon the recommendation of the executive Council of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute has been awarded Canadian Studies Faculty Research Fellowship for the year 2009-10. This fellowship is funded by ICCS (International Council for Canadian Studies) / DFAIT (Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade), Canada.
Dr. Parikshat is the only management teacher from India who has been conferred with this prestigious fellowship and in the process professors from even IIM’s have been left behind by this young scholar. The fellowship screening committee and the executive council comprises of eminent educationist and high profile academicians as well as policy makers from India and Canada. The basic objective of this fellowship is to improve the knowledge of Canadian Values and Know how among key foreign audiences and to expand the network of foreign professionals and leaders with an informed and sustained interest in Canada.
Dr Michel LANGLOIS, Director of graduate studies in tourism and hospitality management including the Executive MBA program in tourism and hospitality at the University of Quebec in Montreal’s business school l'Ecole des Sciences de la Gestion (ESG) has been made his affiliate in Canada. Dr. Parikshat would be working under his guidance and this would enable him to enhance his research and academic potential.
Dr. Parikshat is a prolific researcher, which has enriched his intellectual and academic acumen. Recently his efforts have been endorsed by the apex educational institutions by awarding him with the prestigious “Career Award for Young Teachers – CAYT” worth Rs. 10.50 lakhs by All India Council of Technical Education for working on research proposal titled “Destination Positioning Analysis for Promotion of Tourism in Violence Prone Regions”.
University Grants Commission, Government of India also has provided funding worth Rs. 5.50 lakhs for his research proposal titled “Destination Brand Positioning Analysis using Tricomponent Model of Attitude”. He has been regularly visiting various foreign universities and has participation in various international conferences to his credit.
Omar led government has lost its credibility : PDP
Jammu, June 6 : Senior People Democratic Party (PDP) leaders Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik has said that after the Shopian incident chief minister Omar Abdullah has lost its governments credibility and after this incident chief minister should step down immediately.
According to a statement issued here, Prof. Shohab said that National Conference has always played poltics on the bloods of the Kashmiri people and for the sake of power they can go to any extent. “During the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed regime people of the state especially the people of Kashmir were heaving a sing of relief, but since the new government has taken over, the people are once again treated like slaves and the our mother and sisters are once again disrespected,” he added
He said that in last one week three persons including a girl were killed by unidentified gunmen. “People of valley are feeling insecure as the innocent killings and harassment are at its peak,” he said
PDP leaders said that government should register an FIR on alleged rape and murder case of two Shopian girls if it was serious in finding out truth. “Unless the government did not register FIR on alleged rape and murder case of two Shopian girls the probe will never bear any result,” he said
While reiterating the party's solidarity with the bereaved family and the people of Shopian who had started an indefinite strike to press for a fair investigation, PDP leaders said entire population of the valley shared their grief and pain.
Reiterating the PDP’s demand for the withdrawal of troops from the valley, he said " The troops must be brought back to barracks and what she said draconian laws like AFSPA must be with drawn. As announced earlier by the party president , we will talk to the PM and ask him to withdraw these laws,"
