The J&K Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora has sought intervention of the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr. Praful Patel in streamlining the air traffic and fare structure in view of the increased influx of tourists in the state.
In a communication to the Union Minister, Mr. Jora said that with the improvement of law and order scenario in the state, influx of tourists from outside the state has increased considerably which has necessitated increasing the frequency of air traffic. The Minister said sensing the rush of domestic tourists to J&K, private airlines operating from Delhi to Jammu to Srinagar and from Delhi to Leh have increase air fare exorbitantly recently which is going to adversely affect flow of tourists to Leh and Kashmir. He has invited the attention of the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation towards six times abrupt hike in air fare by private airlines, adding that a tourist who intends to visit Leh or Srinagar from Delhi has to pay Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 14,000, which was bound to affect the flow of tourist.
Mr. Jora has requested the Union Minister to personally look into the matter and issue necessary instructions to check exorbitant fare charged by the private airlines from visitors coming to the State. Mr. Jora has also congratulated the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Praful Patel on his re-induction in the Union Council of Ministers.
