In order to have appraisal of measures taken to provide quality medicare facilities to the people of the State at their doorstep, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today convened a meeting of officers of Health and Medical Education department today.
Underlying the need for making the existing set up more transparent and result oriented, the Minister asked the officers to be accountable and ensure time bound achievement of the goals set in different schemes. He said “all the institutions have been provided the required infrastructure, now it is the duty of the doctors and para-medical staff to provide improved healthcare to the people especially in the rural and far-flung areas.” He asked the Directors Health Services, Jammu/Kashmir to ensure night stay of all the heads of institutions at their headquarters so that people could avail medicare facilities during the odd hours also.
The Minister directed all the Chief Medical Officers to furnish their tour diaries with work done reports and necessary feedback on or before 10th of every month to the concerned Directors, Health Services, for onward submission to him after consokidation with a copy to Administrative Department for further necessary action. These reports will be duly examined and analyzed at appropriate level, enabling the government to take necessary steps to further improve the functioning of the particular institution.
Mr. Sharma stressed upon the officers to implement all the centrally sponsored schemes in letter and spirits so that the benefits of these schemes percolate down to the needy. He asked for streamlining the functioning of ASHAs, adding that they should be allotted target-oriented tasks. He also stressed for proper monitoring of NRHM scheme which envisages focused attention in rural medicare.
All the Chief Medical Officers gave details of achievements in their respective districts. They also apprised the Minister about various difficulties being faced by them.
