Promote handicrafts in big way

Minister for Industries & Commerce, Mr. S.S. Slathia has urged upon the officers of Government Arts Emporia for promoting growth of handicrafts business through its outlets, exhibitions and crafts bazaars in and outside the country in a big way as the sector provides persistent and reliable source of livelihood to the poor artisans & crafts persons of the State.

The Minister was speaking at a three day All India Kashmir Government Branch Managers meet which concluded at emporium buildings, here today. Besides, all senior officers and mangers of the Corporation, branch heads of the arts emporia attended the meet.

The Minister stated that the handicrafts sector was the primary and core sector of the cottage industries of the State and all out efforts are needed by the managers of Kashmir Government Arts Emporia to portray the genuine and world renowned handicrafts of the State in an organized and innovative manner for the benefit of thousands of people dependent upon the same.

Mr. Slathia highlighted the need of introducing innovative methods of doing e-business and making the Corporation self sustainable. He appreciated the role of managers of Kashmir Government Arts Emporia in discharging their duties in -spite of the difficulties faced by the employees during the discharge of their duties in different parts of the country.

Various topics concerning the sector were discussed during the three day meet. Difficulties and measures were identified for up-liftment of the sector. Power Point Presentations were also made during the meet and branch heads also put forth their views for improving the working of the organisation.
