PSC Standing Committee for uniformity in selection procedures


Standing Committee of State Public Service Commissions (PSCs) has favoured uniformity in selection process for appointment to various gazetted cadre posts to enhance acceptability of these institutions among people of the country.

The committee, which held here a national conference today, under the chairmanship of Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission, Mr. Mohammed Shafi Pandit also called for making full use of information technology to make the selection process more transparent and fairer.

The members of the Committee stressed on upholding the sanctity and credibility of PSCs to improve the image of these constitutional institutions before public and aspirants.

It passed a resolution, appreciating role, contribution and dynamic leadership of Mr. Pandit in his capacity as chairman of Standing Committee. The resolution praised him for playing pioneering role in re-orienting the Standing Committee and diversifying its role.

During its marathon meeting, the members deliberated on various issues pertaining to the question paper-setting, evaluation procedure and time bound selections. They also shared their ideas and experiences during the conference.

Earlier, as a token of love and respect Mr. Pandit was presented a shawl. Mr. Pandit who is retiring on superannuation on June 27, was also wished a happy and fulfilling post retirement life by the members, in advance.

Among others, chairman, Andhra Pradesh PSC, Dr. Venkatrami Reddy, chairman Rajasthan PSC, Mr. C. R. Choudhary, chairman Karnataka PSC, Mr. Gonalvhippa, chairperson Meghalaya PSC, Mrs. Violasonachi B. Sangma, chairman Goa PSC, Mr. Parkash N. Desai and members of Jammu & Kashmir PSC attended the conference.

The chairman Tamil Nadu PSC, Mr. A. M. Kasiviwanphan and chairman Haryana PSC were the special invitees on the occasion.
