Team to oversee implementation of Haryali constituted

Disseminate information about RDD schemes: Sagar
Underscoring the need for generating proper awareness about the various rural development schemes, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar asked the officers of the department to hold seminars and also convene village committee to disseminate information regarding the same among the masses.
The Minister was speaking at a performance review meeting of the districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam of the rural development department here today. The meeting was attended by Mian Altaf, Minister for Forests and Environment, Mr. Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, MLA Khan Sahib, Secretary Rural Development, Mr. M.S.Khan, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mrs Dilshada Khan and senior officers of the department.
Impressing upon the officers to properly disseminate the information and benefits of various rural development schemes, Mr. Sagar said that these have the potential of changing the rural profile besides, ensuring employment generation so we have to be doubly sure that they are properly implemented and the benefit percolates to the needy. He also asked them to hold public meetings and involve village heads as well so that the targets set under the scheme are met in a time bound manner.
Underlining the need for the active participation of legislators in scheme implementation, Mr. Sagar said that by doing the same the government has shown its seriousness towards the development of various rural and far-flung areas irrespective of their political and regional affiliations. “The coalition government is serious about bringing a socio-economic transformation of the far-flung areas and in this regard it is our endeavour that these flagship schemes should be properly implemented so that they can help in alleviation of poverty”, he maintained.
The Minister also asked Secretary Rural development to constitute a high level committee to oversee the implementation of the Haryali scheme in the district of Ganderbal and Budgam. He asked for a detailed report about the status and funds utilized under the scheme.
The meeting was informed that the Government of India has provided Rs 15 lakh for development of village huts, community business centres so that the business activities of various villages get a boost.
It was also given out that an amount of Rs 30.69 lakhs and Rs 97.09 lakhs have been spent under NREGA in the districts of Ganderbal and Budgam during the year 2008-09. Similarly, an amount of Rs 2.62 crore and Rs 5.21 crore have been spent under Indira Awas Yojna (AIY) during 2008-09. 
It was also informed that an amount of Rs 71. 27 lakh and Rs 47.13 lakh have been spent under Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY) in the districts of Budgam and Ganderbal respectively.
The meeting was told that 12 model villages are nearing completion in the districts of Ganderbal and Budgam.
The Secretary Rural Development gave an over view about various rural development schemes and gave a brief about the status of the same.
