Rs. 1.72 cr, appointment orders disbursed under SRO-43The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today asked the people to defeat the forces inimical to the peace, prosperity and progress of the state and cooperate with the government to alleviate the problems being faced by them.
The Minister was addressing a function organized by the District administration to distribute ex-gratia and appointment orders to the next of the kin killed due to militancy related activities under SRO 43, the function was attended by the legislators of the Srinagar district which included, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Mr. Mubarak Gul, Ms. Shamima Firdous, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, Mr Irfan Shah, Mr. Peer Afaq. The District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo and senior officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
An amount of Rs. 1.72 crore was disbursed among 43 beneficiaries, besides 16 appointment orders were also given to the people under SRO 43. An amount of Rs 9 lakh was also disbursed among the beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes.
The Minister said that the government has given clear instructions to the authorities concerned to settle all the SRO 43 cases without any delay so that the real motive of the scheme does not get defeated. He further added that the government has already relaxed the age criteria and fixed it at 12 and half years so that maximum benefit is provided to the next of the kin under the SRO.
Calling upon the people to cooperate with the government in the implementation of various welfare schemes, the Minister said that it is the endeavour of the present government headed by the young and dynamic Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah to work for the welfare of the people. We are trying our level best to work for the peace and progress of the state and people should come forward and exhibit a participatory role in the same, he maintained.
Mr.Sagar said that National Conference has always worked for the welfare of the people of the state and in this regard they have given innumerable sacrifices so that the interests of the people do not get compromised. It was due to tireless effort of the party that we were able to get the state out of the morass in 1996 and carry forward the agenda of peace and progress in the state against all the odds, he maintained.
