Giving a resume of the banking performance in the Kishtwar district, the Lead Bank Officer, Mr B. L. Waza informed that Rs.12.87 crore were disbursed by the banks against the national target of Rs.7.62 crore under the priority sector registering achievement of 168 percent of the annual credit action plan of the district for the year 2008-09. He also informed that the ratio of agriculture advance, of the total advance, is 32.70 for the banking sector in the district against the national approved target of 18 percent.
The Lead Bank Officer also gave details of the other banking activities which need collective approach for the successful results for implementing government sponsored schemes like SJSRY, SC/ST/OBC, J&K SES, PMERGP (DIC) and PMERGP (KVIB). The status of the bad loans and recovery position till ending March 2009 was also discussed.
The meeting also discussed, banking related issues like NPA, Block Level Banking Committees for NREGA payments, Self Help Groups Formation at Panchayat Level, Kissan Credit Cards, key area deposit ratio credit flow to women beneficiaries and micro financing to Self Help Groups in the district.
Addressing the meeting, ADDC underscored the need for synergic efforts of bankers and line departments to facilitate easy financing to the applicants and frame a time schedule for clearing the loan cases for the young educated youths of the district so that the aims and objective of the employment generation programme is translated objectively for them besides simplifying the micro-financing for the poor and under privileged sections of the society.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr A. R. Natnoo, ACD, Chief Planning Officer, Lead Bank Officer, RBI Jammu, AGM, JKB, Managers of SBI, JCCB, KVIB, GM, DIC Doda/Kishtwar and the district functionaries of the line departments.
