Mushaira at Ashmuji in the memory of Dar

Kashmiri poet Khalil Dar remembered

To commemorate 4th death anniversary of eminent Kashmiri poet and social worker Mohammad Khalil Dar, a literary function was held at Ashmuji, Kulgam today.

The function which was jointly organized by District Information Centre, Anantnag and Bazmi Sheikh-ul-Alam Kulgam was attended by renowned poets, writers, social activists, prominent citizens and a large number of locals.

The speakers on the occasion highlighted the contribution of late Dar in literary and social circles and said that he was a philanthropist and active social worker besides being a literary luminary, who would be long remembered. They paid rich tributes to the late poet.

Expressing his views on the under publication Kashmiri poetic collection “Sirr te Sadah” of Khalil Dar, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Dilbar said that the late poet belonged to the line age of Sufi poets who through his verses tried to reveal the truth and persuade the human nature to be submissive towards God. Reciting some of mystic verses of Dar, Mr. Dilbar narrated the essence of Dar’s poetry. He described Khalil Dar a visionary and prudent personality and said that his role as a social activist was remarkable that invited wide appreciation and applause for him. He, however, said that the late poet needs to be familiarized among the well wishers of Kashmiri language and literature.

Mr. Qutab-ud-Din Shakeel, while reading a paper on life and achievements of Khalil Dar said that the late poet was a great Kashmiri poet whose verses depict the real facets of life, whereunder he terms the world a mere illusion and its belongings as misleading. Highlighting various aspects of Dar’s literary personality, Mr. Shakeel said that late poet carved a niche in the hearts of Kashmiri literary fans.

Later, a Kashmiri Mehfil-e-Mushaira was held in the memory of Khalil Dar in which renowned poets of South Kashmir recited their poetic verses. Those who participated in the Mushaira included Yousuf Gulshan, Shahida Fayaz, Shahnawaz Bashir, Sayaf Ahmad Mir, Shahid Hilal, Sona Ullah Mir, Yousuf Dilber, Qutab-ud-Din Shakeel, Bashir Zair, Ahad Bebas, Abdul Ahad Wahid, Mir Iqbal Rafiqi, Tanha Ashmuji and Gular Ahmad Shabnam. Earlier, Fateh Khawani was held at the Mazar of Khalil Dar.
