Police saves Mufti Sayeed, Rafi Mir from furious mob at Pahalgam

Probe ordered in firing by PSO on orders of PDP MLA when his personal hotel was attacked by mob

Today at Pahalgam, police succeeded in protecting PDP MLA, Mr. Rafi Mir, when furious mob attacked his hotel and were raising slogans against him and his party.

According to Police, PSO of Mr. Mir, who is the local MLA, fired from his official weapon when he realized that violent mob was advancing towards them. The mob ransacked and pelted stones on the hotel of Mr. Mir at Pahalgam.

The mob also used un-parliamentary language against PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who was incidentally also at Pahalgam since last night. However, the security accompanying Mufti Mohammad Sayeed did not allow advancement of the mob towards him.

DIG and Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag rushed to Pahalgam to bring situation under control and ensure no harm was allowed to be inflicted by the furious mob on Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mr. Mir. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was later safely rushed back from Pahalgam.

The grievance of the mob was construction of a golf course during the PDP-led government which they had resisted, as use of land was for welfare and other activities of the local people.

An enquiry into the circumstances which led to firing by PSO on orders of PDP MLA while controlling the mob has been ordered.
