Sufi Society celebrates Khawaja Garib Nawaz Day at Budgam

Over 10,000 attend biggest-ever spiritual congregation to pay obeisance to Khawaja Hazrat Ajmer
In the spiritual background and with attendance of over 10,000 devotees at Beta Bagh, Budgam, people celebrated Hazrat Khawaja Ajmer Sharief Day to mark the 772nd annual Urs of Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti (RA) on Tuesday.
On this occasion, well-known mystic and buzarag, Amma Saheb Goshbug, joined thousands of people after a long period of isolation and meditation.
Sufi singers, while paying tributes to Garib Nawaz from wee hours, enthralled the audience with sufiyana music and devotional songs to mark the occasion.
Organized by Sufi Society of Kashmir, thousands of devotees which included old and young from various parts of the Valley, attended the function, which was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety.
Kashmir, which is the seat of Sufism, has the tradition of celebrating Hazrat Khawaja Day which coincides with Ajmer Sharief Day and Beta Bagh celebration in Budgam was part of that great tradition.
In Kashmir, great Sufi saints like Peer Hazrat Bul Bul Shah, Hazrat Amir Kabir, Hazrat Peer Dastageer, Hazrat Makhdoom Saheb and Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, besides thousands of other saints and aulia kirams, are being revered with great esteem and thousands of devotees throng these shrines at the time of Urs days.
Todays celebrations at Beta Bagh, with such great devotion, has revived the pious and sacred spiritual culture of Kashmir.
