Mega Lok Adalat held at Ganderbal, 71 cases settled

Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmed has asked the concerned authorities to aware the people about Lok Adalat. He said awareness among the people is must for availing benefits through it.

He was addressing at an inaugural function of Mega Lok Adalat week commencing from October 26, organized by Chairman, District Legal Service Authority at Ganderbal today.

The function was attended by Former Minister, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Former Chief Secretary, J&K, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Chairman, District Legal Service Authority, President, Bar Association, Ganderbal, Officers of district administration, Police, Advocates, Anganwari workers and large number of people.

Mian Altaf said that role of judiciary in settling disputes amicably through these Lok Adalats is more important. He appreciated the Supreme Court for its role in the protection and conservation of environment.

Referring to the infrastructure of Court Complex Ganderbal, the Minister said that the complex would be developed as Model District Court. For the purpose land acquiring is under process. He said that the construction work of record room and sanitary units would be taken up soon

In connection with Mega Lok Adalat, an impressive inaugural function was held at District Court Complex, Ganderbal by the Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Session Judge, Ganderbal, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Khan which was presided over by the Minister for Forest, Mian Altaf Ahmed and attended by a galaxy of guests including District Administration, Ganderbal and other respectable of area.

The Chairman District Legal Services, Authority, Ganderbal shed light on the concept of Lok Adalats and legal aid system in the state apprised the participants about the benefits of the Lok Adalats. The Minister for forests also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the role of Lok Adalats in the State. He assured that all assistance from the State administration in so far as the shortfalls of infrastructure at district Court, Ganderbal is concerned.

The President Bar association, Ganderbal, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Masoodi also spoke on the occasion. As many as 71 cases of various nature amicably settled out of 131 taken up in the Lok Adalat.
