CM cheers meeting to discuss matters pertaining to saw mill units


The representatives of Tata Power Company led by Mr. Bharat Wakhlu, Resident Director today called on Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah here and expressed interest of the company to invest in the State in the projects aimed at hydro, geo-thermal and solar power generation. The company is also interested in the development and strengthening of distribution and transmission system in the State, the representatives informed.

Welcoming the intension of the company, Mr. Omar advised the representatives to furnish a comprehensive proposal to the Power Development Department to study its advantages for the benefit of the people and the State. “We are also interested to rope in investors in the State to help speedier development of various sectors especially crucial power sector”, he said and added that our endeavour at one hand is to develop vital public service infrastructure and on the other create jobs for youth.

The meeting was attended by the Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mr. Devender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Principal Secretary Power Development Department, Mr. B. R. Sharma, Managing Director, Power Development Corporation, Mr. Pathak and Executive Director of Tata Power Mr. Banmali Agerwal and Managing Director, Prasad R. Menon.

The Chief Minister also presided over a high level meeting to discuss matters relating to the issues and demands of the Saw Mill Units.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Minister for Industries, Mr. S. S. Slathia, Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur, Advocate General, Mr. Mohamad Ishaq, Principal Secretary Industries, Mr. Anil Goswami and Commissioner Secretaries of various departments besides the representatives of Saw Mills.
