Dy CM inaugurates 12th Jyotilingum Darshan mela at Kathua

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today inaugurated 12th Jyoti Linguan Darshan mela organized by PrijaPita Braham Kumari Ishwraya Vishav Vidialaya at Kathua today.

Minister of State Cooperatives, Planning, Industries & Commerce, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, DDC Kathua Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Director Local bodies Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat, SSP Kathua Mr. Garib Dass President MC, Kathua and other district officers were also present on the occasion.

The Deputy Chief Minister accompanied by Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma after inaugurating the mela also visited spiritual exhibition and other stalls like drama wheel and exhibition for Yuva Pardarshani. He took keen interest in the spiritual exhibition.

Later, the Deputy Chief minister Chaired a meeting of officers in the office of Municipal Council, Kathua and reviewed in detailed the pace of development works under execution in the jurisdiction of Municipal Council Kathua which include Solid Waste Management, water supply, roads, sewerage and drainage, construction of lanes and drains, electrification etc.

Director Local bodies apprised the Deputy Chief Minister that against Rs.2136.6 lakhs earmarked for water supply system, funds to the tune of Rs. 1057.62 lakhs have been released by SUIDA and an amount of Rs. 1205.39 lakhs have been expended upto September this year. It was also apprised that under solid waste management schemes, against Rs. 146.47 lakhs earmarked, Rs. 73.21 lakhs have been released to Line departments and expenditure of about Rs. 3.85 lakhs has been booked upto September this year.

Under roads sector, against the estimated cost of Rs.1195.59 lakhs an amount of Rs. 591.82 lakhs have been released for 4 road projects costing Rs. 246 lakhs. These works have been tendered and allotment is in progress.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed his dis- satisfaction over the slow pace of development works. He directed the DDC Kathua to speed up the pace of development works. The Dy. Chief Minister said that the majority of projects are not being completed within stipulated time frame and directed to work in double shifts so that these could be completed within time frame.

He also expressed displeasure over slow release of funds for various development works.

Dy. CM directed to black list those contractors who are not delivering satisfactorily adding that there should be not compromise on quality of works.

The President MC Kathua Mr. R.S Babi apprised the Dy. CM about the shortage of staff in the municipal council.
