I am overwhelmed to see the talent of Kashmiri students: VC
Week long Kashmir University Festival, Sonzal 2009, 3rd in succession in the last 3 years organized by cultural wing of Department of Students welfare concluded here at KashmirUniversity. Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Riyaz Punjabi who last week inaugurated the seminar in presence of galaxy of artist’s academicians, scholars and students termed the outcome of the youth festival as highly satisfactory saying he was overwhelmed to see the talent of Kashmiri students. Our students are highly talented and we need to care about their talent and help them face the new challenges of life said VC . VC asked the students present to open up new vistas of creative activities to face the challenges of the modern day world. Prof Punjabi said that these events also encourage our young students to contribute in creative fields and help them to grow.
In her special address Prof. Nilofar Khan , Dean students Welfare said that about 15 events in various genres of art, culture and literature were held which include Debate, Poetry Recitation, Elocution, Collage, Clay Modeling, Cartoon, Poster Makers Rangoli, Painting, Quiz, Light Vocal, Western Vocal, Classical Vocal, Semi Classical and Group Song. About 300 students from various affiliated college of the university and various PG department of university participated in the event. The very fact that the event has been widely covered by local media, national media and many international websites related to art, culture and literature shows how successful the event has been and how openly it has been acclaimed by one and all.
RegistrarKashmirUniversity Prof. Syed Fayaz praised department of Students welfare for being vibrant in the past and showing great efforts in present as well to help students of Kashmir university and affiliated collages to sharpen their talent. He said KU is on the path of development and growth and the quality of education and development of educational programme have taken new dimensions at Kashmir University now Director Doordarshan Dr Rafeeq Masoodi who was the guest of honour on the occasion termed the event a great success and said it is laudable that Kashmir University has been able to assure maximum participation from collages and university departments in Sonzal 2009. Dr Masoodi said that creating platforms to give went to the hidden and pent up talent of youth is the need of hour and he volunteered the role of his Kendra in this direction. “ you will always find us on the fore -front when it is to harness the talent of our youth, he assured the Vice Chancellor on this occasion.
In his welcome address assistant Dean students welfare Showkat Shafi spoke about the youth festivals in the life of universities. Shahid Ali Khan the cultural officer Ku conducted the proceedings of the event.
Some seventy five students from university departments and affiliated collages received the awards from vice chancellor Kashmir university on this occasion.
The event was followed by a candle lighting event which was organized by big 92.7 FM. Ms Fara Khan the content head of the big 92.7 FM conducted the candle lighting event aimed at having peace with self , family and friends.
