This was revealed by the Minister of State for Planning, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, here today, while talking to a deputation who called on him in his office chamber. The deputation was led by Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, former minister.
The deputation urged for undertaking widening of city roads, particularly from Jewel to Amphalla upto Janipur High Court complex and Jewel to Canal road, so that people get a sigh of relief from the frequent traffic jams.
The Minister assured the deputation that government is already aware of the hardships being faced by the people due to frequent traffic snarls in
Principal Secretary, Planning, Mr. B. B. Vyas, who was also present in the meeting, assured that after the proposal for construction of flyovers is through, immediate funds would be arranged for the purpose. With regard to widening of roads, he said works have already been taken up for widening of roads at different points. He further said that road from Surinsar-Chenani to Sudhmahadev would be completed within six months so that tourists flow to Surinsar and Sudhmahdev remains unaffected.
He further said that one of the ERA projects, which was going to expire in 2010, has been extended upto 2011 and case will be taken up with the centre so that Rs. 1600 crore provided for the project could be utilized in full during the extended period. He said till date only Rs. 800 crore have been expended on the said project.
The deputation also sought early instructions to the R&B department for repairing the dug up roads for laying water pipes, cables etc so that people do not face any inconvenience.
