Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand today highlighted crucial role of youth in nation building, saying that their participation in the development efforts will give live impetus to socio-economic transformation and uplift of under privileged sections of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of 3-day workshop organized by the State Unit of National Student Union of India (NSUI) here this evening.

Describing the youth as future of the nation, Mr. Tara Chand hoped that in the changing scenario and progress registered by the developed countries in the recent years, youth would shoulder their onerous responsibility of steering the country and the State to new heights of progress and development. He noted with pride that India has emerged as a leader in providing much needed human resource to world and the professionals have been making a mark in different spheres world over. He said the members of NSUI have an important role to educate the masses about these programme by organizing awareness camp.

Chairman, Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Micky, Minister for R&B, Mr. G.M. Saroori, Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil and Mr. Naresh Sharma both legislators and MLA Banihal, Mr. Vakar Rasool was present. To train its cadre at district and state level, NSUI organized a 3-days state level leadership training workshop. Different delegates from all the 22 districts of Jammu and Kashmir participated. A total of 109 delegates were registered and they were divided into eight groups. These groups will be given different topics to study. All the delegates addressed the workshop and tell about the NSUI of their district. Deputy Chief Minister Sh Tara Chand was chief guest in the inauguration while R&B Minister Sh G M Saroori, Acting Chairman Legislative Council Amarinder Singh Micky and Registrar JU Sh P S Pathania were guest-of-honour. The function was presided over by State President NSUI Sh Abdul Rashid Chaudhary. Sh Tara Chan ji in his address, congratulated the NSUI team for organizing such useful programme and stressed on the need to organize such programme at district and tehsil levels. G M Saroori in his address lauded the role of NSUI in solving the problems of NSUI. He also thanked the party for their crucial role in assembly and parliament elections. Ab Rashid Chaudhary in his address vowed to fight against communal and anti national elements in India and said that NSUI is the greatest army of its country against all the social problems. The training programme shall involve the participants from each district who shall be provided knowledge about the history, aims and objectives, ideology, working, decorum and other aspects of the Congress Party, especially NSUI which shall help them to spread the message of congress and its great thinkers to the common masses. This shall also help the participants to channelise the energies and enthusiasm in a proper direction so that the ambers of today shall become the flames of tomorrow and spread like wild fire in their respective districts and areas carrying the massage of Congress Party. This programme shall provide the participants to a maximum level of exposure as they shall be briefed by eminent politicians, scholars, famous media personnel and other great minds besides some young and dynamic politicians.

The workshop was organized to inculcate the leadership qualities in NSUI cadre. Also the delegates were urged to take the policies of UPA and coalition government in J&K to the common masses.
