MSS criticizes Jammu representatives against silence on custodial death

Mahila Sanrakshan Samiti (MSS) today said that the elected representatives from Jammu, including ministers and MLAs has not shown any concern for the custodial killing of a Jammu youth Rajneesh Sharma. It was alleged here by Samiti’s Core Committee Member Priya Sethi while addressing media persons at Jammu. She said that Mahila Sanrakshan Samiti has been agitating over the killing of Rajneesh Sharma for the last two months and demanding arrest, CBI Inquiry and initiating legal proceedings under Section 302 against the guilty police officers. We organized protest rallies, undertook signature campaigns and took out torch rallies to awaken this NC-Congress government and take effective steps to deliver justice to the bereaved family. Even memorandums were submitted to a number of ministers hailing from Jammu requesting to interfere and seek action against the erring police officers from Srinagar and Jammu. Unfortunately nothing has been done on part of the government to ensure that justice is delivered. MSS makes it loud and clear that we will not rest till action is initiated. We will not allow the Ministers and MLAs hailing from Jammu to adopt a silence on the issue. They will have to come forward in support of our demand. The Samiti has, in this regard, now decided to organize dharnas outside the residences of all the three MLAs of Jammu city in the coming days, which will be followed by hunger strike and thereafter 1 day Chakka Jaam. The Samiti has also decided to reach from a common citizen to President and Prime Minister through mobile messages (SMS) and e-mails to make them aware of the apathy of state government over the killing of an innocent person in the police custody. After completion of these exercises, the Samiti will submit memorandum to the Governor. MSS Core Committee Members Sushma Sharma and Anuradha Charak were also present in the press conference.
