PDD Daily wagers held demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan

Hundreds of PDD daily wagers today assembled at PDD division office Parade and took out a procession towards Raj Bhawan where they held protest demonstration and submitted memorandum seeking Governor N N Vohra’s intervention for early resolution of their issue. The PDD daily wagers while condemning Govt. adamant attitude said that the government has failed to meet its commitment. They said that nearly 3000 employees had qualified for regularization but government has adopted dilly dallying tactics. Their wages were not enhanced and even wages were not paid, they said. “The government every year assures us to settle down our long pending demands but nothing comes in black and white”, protesting PDD daily wagers said, adding that ‘last year, the daily wagers were told that they would be regularized but it was merely eyewash and government was adopting same tactics this year too’. ‘Not only regularization of employees but for the past three years, we have not been paid our salary, which is unfortunate’, the protesting daily wagers added. Chief Minister who is holding the portfolio has proved as most inefficient to take decision, they said and added that he has perhaps no time for the department. He alleged that brutal ‘lathis’ was the new year gift they have received from Omar Government. It is to mention that Commissioner/ Secretary Power B R Sharma had already given assurance to release the wages of 12 months of the workers within seven days. He also gave assurance to Justify Fullexpedite the process of regularization. It is to inform that PDD daily wagers were on indefinite strike for their regularization from last 43rd consecutive days.
