POJK Refugee Sangarsh Morcha stages protest, burn Saghir’s report

Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir Refugee Sangarash Morcha today staged strong protest against Justice Saghir Ahmed Report and burnt its copies at Gandhi Chowk Satwari. Large number of people from all shades irrespective of political affiliation joined the protest. Rajiv Chooni, Advisor POJK, Dr.Narinder Singh Convener, Adv. Surinder Singh Member Working Group, Yuv Raj Gupta, Chairman, Romesh Saberwal president JKPF while speaking on this occasion, condemned the WG Report and said that Justice Saghir has totally ignored the aspirations of about 15 lakh Refugees of Pak occupied area of the state. They said that it is very unfortunate that POJK Refugees who are religious and linguistic minorities and WG report has not mentioned a single word about their permanent settlement. They said that Justice Saghir WG Report is purely agenda of National Conference and restoring of pre 53 positions is not acceptable to any nationalist. Except NC every political party, groups and individuals criticized this Kashmir centric report which totally ignored the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions. They also flayed both Centre and State governments for treating this nationalist community (POK Refugees) as 2nd class citizens in J&K since Independence. POJK Refugee Sangarsh Morchah Spokesperson Dr.Ram Chander Sharma while issuing charter of demands to the media persons said that there is no home land for the POJK Refugees in two nations, India and Pakistan and demanded their right without any delay. He said that their political rights have been trampled by freezing 24 Assembly seats of POK areas and they deserve de-freezing of 8 Assembly seats and two seats in Upper House, about one lakh POJK Refugees( Hindu and Sikh) were killed in 1947, this genocide has not been recorded by the United Nation, We demand it should be recorded. Compensation in lieu of Human Rights Violations and moveable and immovable properties have not been paid even after the passage of 62years by the Govt. of India as was paid to other displaced communities in India, India has not ratified the UN Treaty of Refugees, we demand UNRefugee status of 1951, as Refugees world over are treated by a single international Refugee Law. Refugees are still economically and educationally backward and demands Refugee Development Board for the upliftment of the Refugees and reservation in jobs and educational institutions and fresh registration process should be carried out and each new registered family should be given Rs.25 lakh. On this occasion, the Sangarash Morcha announced one Day Dharna on 22nd of January on Tehsil and District level in all Refugee areas to press their demands. Prominent among those who were present on this occasion include MLA R S Pura, Sham Choudhary, MLA Suchet Garh Prof. Garu Ram, Vikram Randawa, Bharat Bhushan Vaid from Rajouri, Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Ashok Kumar Khajuria, Ram Chanderan of Siot, Pawan Sahani, Jagan Nath Thapper, Rattan Lal Choudhary, Vijay Sharma and others.
