JAMMU: PSPS Govt. P.G. College for Women GANDHINAGAR, Jammu hosted NAAC Awareness Programme for Colleges of JK UT jointly organized by NAAC , Bengaluru and Higher Education Department, JK UT and coordinated by Govt. College For Women Parade on 12/01/2023. The aim of this Programme was to create awareness about NAAC guidelines. The Programme began with floral welcome to chief guest Sh. Alok Kumar, IRS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, JK UT. Dr. Pratibha Singh (Deputy Advisor NAAC), Sh. S. Srinivasa (Deputy Advisor NAAC,) Dr. Wahidul Hasan (Senior Communication Cum Publication Officer NAAC), Dr. Yasmeen Ashai (Director Colleges, JK UT) and other higher officials. This was followed by lamp lightening and floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati. The Programme was attended by the Principals, IQAC Coordinators and faculty members of various colleges of JK Kashmir.
The formal welcome address was given by Dr. S.P. Saraswat, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges. He highlighted how NAAC and the accreditation process help to assess the performance of Institutions. Dr. Pratibha Singh (Deputy Advisor, NAAC) discussed the agenda of workshop on NAAC. She stressed upon the fact that accreditation was the benchmark of quality. She emphasized that the educational institutions must accommodate changes according to the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, and try to phase out of affiliation system and strive to become autonomous institutions.
Dr. Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges (Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department) gave a crisp introduction about the event. She applauded the Higher Education Department for the successful transition to NEP 2020 and emphasized that the College should have a robust Internal Quality Assurance Committee to meet the quality parameters put forth by the NAAC. She said that good institutions produce good products so the colleges must focus on self-assessment and improvement.
Sh. Alok Kumar (IRS), Principal Secretary (JKHED) congratulated the organizers for organizing such an informative workshop on NAAC awareness programme. He opined that we must not focus on mere grading. There should be a continuous endeavor to keep complying and maintain the quality of education. He emphasized that we must keep striving for improvement in educational systems.
Dr. Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Nodal Principal, Kashmir Division colleges presented the formal vote of thanks for the inaugural session followed by the singing of National Anthem.
In the second session, proceedings of the event continued with the technical events. The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks which was presented by Sh. P.S. Rakwal, Principal MAM College, following which the guests and the participants proceeded for high tea.
