Central University of Jammu Congratulates Dr. Shweta Yadav for INYAS membership-2023

JAMMU: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain congratulated Dr. Shweta Yadav, Faculty, Department of Environmental Sciences, Central University of Jammu for INYAS membership - 2023. Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) is the only recognised academy of young scientist in India and was founded by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in December 2014. Dr. Shweta Yadav is leading Aerosol Research Group at CUJ and is also visitor to the North Carolina State University, NC, USA.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Yadav was awarded Fulbright Kalam Climate Fellowship (2017-2018) and she has been actively contributing to develop process level understanding of atmospheric aerosols over the North-Western Himalayas through meaningful collaboration with Aerosol groups of several IITs in India and leading atmospheric scientists from US, UK, Switzerland, Germany and France. She is Coordinator of the Himalayan Aerosol Research Instrumentation Facility, CUJ and has recently been awarded the Indo-Swiss Joint research project to investigate ice nucleating and cloud forming properties of aerosols at Patnitop, a high altitude location in J&K in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, India and ETH-Zurich, Switzerland.

The formal INYAS induction of Dr. Yadav took place during the Eighth Annual General Body Meeting of INYAS at INSA, New Delhi during February 17-19, 2023 where Prof. Ashutosh Sharma (President, INSA) and Ms. Meeta Rajivlochan, IAS (Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs) interacted with INYAS members. The first joint CUJ-INYAS event Winter School-2023 on Hands on training on Instrumentation and Analytical Techniques for Atmospheric Aerosol Measurements and Source Apportionment Studies took place from 20th -25th February,2023.

The prestigious recognition of INYAS is given for a period of five years and HVC has assured full support for achieving INYAS goalsto promote Science education in the region. On this occasion, HVC congratulated entire Women fraternity of the University and appreciated there incredible contribution in institution building. Notably, HVC Prof. Sanjeev Jain is MTech in Computer Engineering from IIT Delhi and he strongly believes that the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” is felicitous for Amrit Kaal and digital skills alongwith technological integration will surely lead to Gender Equality across all spectrums.
