CDRC settles case after 9 years

J&K State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission JK CDRC), Srinagar headed by Mr. Justice (Retd) G.D. Sharma and Mrs. Rifat Aijaz, Member today in a order passed in the case of Abdul Aziz Lone Vs. United India Insurance Co. Ltd. has awarded Rs. 9.50 lakhs in favour of the complainant namely Abdul Aziz Lone S/O Mohammad Akram Lone R/O Belipora Aloosa Bandipora Kashmir whose two insured houses were gutted in fire on March 25, 2000. The complainant is a senior citizen and had been waiting the result of his claim which finally has been decided after a gap of more than 9 years in his favour. The Commission has directed the insurance company to pay the above stated amount within a period of 2 months failing which interest has to be paid @ 6 percent per annum on that amount. The cost of litigation have also been awarded to the sum of Rs. 5000 in favour of the complainant.
