Director Fisheries, Mr. T. Angchuk alongwith a team of officers conducted an extensive tour of Baramulla district to take stock of the measures being taken to boost fish production in the district.
During his tour, the Director gave instructions for developing the trout fish unit at Kalantara in Sangrama constituency on modern lines. He said that the Ningli Nallah in the constituency should be opened for Brown Trout fishing which will be an attraction for the tourists as well. He also directed the officers accompanying him to expand the trout unit at Bela Uri where one pair of American Raceway and one Gardet will be constructed. This will help double its fish production.
The Director also inspected the Gangroosa Trout Farm, where 450 kg fish production was recorded last year. He directed the Assistant Director Fisheries to conduct survey of some more areas for pushing up trout and carp production in the coming days to help tide over unemployment in the district.
