An amount of Rs. 13 crores would be utilized on various ongoing projects under different sectors in Langate constituency of the Kupwara district to provide a better road communication besides, irrigation, power and health facilities to the people of the area.
This information was given to MLA Langate, Mr. Abdul Rashid Sheikh at a joint meeting of people and officers at Panchayat Bhawan Qalamabad Langate today. The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr. Showkat Ahmad Mir and all district and tehsil level officers were present on the occasion.
The people highlighted various problems confronting the people of the area.
MLA and DDC assured the people that the administration would take necessary steps to solve these.
It was told in the meeting that under Irrigation sector, 3 new irrigation canals in the constituency are under construction at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.53 crores and would benefit 20 villages of the area and irrigate about 4500 kanals of the land. The three irrigation canals are Budha Shie Khul costing Rs. 2.49 crores, out of which, Rs. 60 lakhs have been utilized while Unsoo-Ujroo Khul is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.08 crores out of which Rs. 1.20 crores have been spent so far. Besides Qalamabad Kudie Khul (under Lift Scheme) is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 96 lakhs.
The meeting was further informed that Rs. 4.32 crore would be utilized on the construction of Sub-District Hospital, Langate while an amount of Rs. 75 lakhs is being utilized on Primary Health Centre, Kralgund which would be completed this year.
The meeting was informed that under R&B sector, 5 kilometers of road length have been black topped last year at a cost of Rs. 47 lakh and this year about 12 kilometers of road length would be black topped at a cost of Rs. 1.10 crore.
The DDC informed the meeting that Power Development department has send a project for upgradation of Ganiepora and Kralpora Receiving Stations costing Rs. One crore.
MLA Langate urged upon the people to involve themselves in the developmental works going apace in their area and cooperate with administration for their early completion.
