Foundation of Rs. 6.23 cr bridge at Badipora-Sogam
Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today laid foundation stone for 100-metre long double-lane bridge over Doodganga stream at Badipora, Sogam in Budgam district. Estimated to cost Rs. 6.23 crore, the project is being executed by J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC).
Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Rather said government is keen to kick-start a new era of progress and prosperity with focus on speedy infrastructure development in all critical sectors like power, R&B, agriculture and horticulture to spur economic growth in the State.
While referring to the Prime Minister’s assurance to the Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah regarding developing J&K as a model state, the Finance Minister said the State will witness all-round development in the coming years.
Referring to his recent visit to New Delhi, Mr. Rather said he has urged Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee to approve State’s Annual Plan at the earliest, in view of limited working season, to which the Union government has given full assurance. “Soon after approval of State Plan, the pro-poor Budget will be passed”, he said, adding the budget will reflect aspirations of all people and sections of the society and ensure constant funding for development projects.
Underlining the importance of peace, progress and development of the State, Mr. Rather called upon people to promote traditions of unity, harmony and brotherhood and defeat ploys of forces bent upon fomenting trouble to destabilize the State.
The Finance Minister asked JKPCC to ensure completion of the bridge in two years, adding delay in execution of development projects creates trust deficit between public and the government. Sogam area, along with other far-flung regions of the State, would witness a complete transformation in the years ahead, especially in education, health and R&B sectors, he added. Among others MD, JKPCC, Mr. Dalip Thusoo were present on the occasion.
