Taj emphasizes for effective implementation of all the schemes

Urging administration to strive hard for perfection to achieve excellences saying there is always scope for improvement. Besides the promptness and efficiency would ensure better delivery and meeting aspirations of people. Administration has to gear-up to meet the fresh challenges thrown up before it by the present government which is committed to provide good governance. 
This was stated by Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din while presiding over a meeting of high level officers here today. Emphasizing upon the engineers to effectively implement all the programmes and policies of coalition government, the Minister said that under flood control sector, a big project report has been formulated for reviving of drugging of out fall channel from Ningli nallah to Khadinyar to save the adjoining areas from flood damages. 
For this purpose, he said that constituency has been fixed and project report is being submitted to Central Government for an amount of over Rs 100 crore besides another project report has been framed for Rs 37 crore and submitted for building flood protection dams in border areas of Uri and Baramulla. He said that the old pipes presently available and already laid underground would be taken out for its re-use after these are galvanized, repaired and rethreaded to save 90 percent of the cost on purchase of new pipes.
The MLAs on this occasion highlighted and sought immediate redressal and solution of the problems being faced in their respective constituencies pertaining to drinking water, irrigation & flood control.
The Minister was informed that under PHE sector, 394 ongoing schemes are presently coming up in Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts at a total cost of Rs 43 crore and on their completion, these schemes would provide drinking water to 6,59,371 souls of these areas. Under irrigation sector it was told that in Baramulla and Bandipora districts, 13 new schemes are being taken up at a cost of Rs 39.8 crore to provide irrigation facilities to 5000 acres of land. It was further informed that 17 schemes are being commissioned in the sector in Baramulla district during current financial year, covering an area of 8000 acres of land. It was further given out that under Flood Control sector 7 nallahs are being treated in Kupwara district against drugging, de-silting and protection of bunds at a cost of Rs 4.90 crore.
The meeting was also attended by members of Legislative Assembly from Gurez, Bandipora, Rafiabad, Sopore, Sangrama, Pattan, Kupwara, Langate, Handwara and Lolab constituencies, the Chief Engineers of PHE, Flood Control and Irrigation, Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers and AEE’s of all the three districts participated in the meeting.
