Govt committed to provide transparent, corruption free dispensation to the people: Sakina

4.92 lakh destitute & old-age pensions be covered under ISSS

The Minister for Social Welfare, Ms Sakina Ittoo has said that present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah is committed to provide equal opportunities of development to all the regions of the state adding that in this regard multi-lateral and multi-pronged development programmes besides welfare schemes are being launched across the state.

Addressing a largely attended public gathering today at Anantnag, the Minister called upon the people to strengthen the hands of the Omar led government by their whole-hearted cooperation for fulfilling the dream of a model J&K as envisioned by the Chief Minister.

Ms. Sakina Ittoo appealed the people to be aware about the nefarious designs of those who for their personal interests use innocent people by their hollow sloganeering and disrupt peace and progress of the state. “Our governments is determined to work for peace and prosperity of the state and coalition government has set out a clear agenda for providing clean, transparent and corruption free dispensation to the people of the state”, she maintained.

The Minister praised the people of the State for electing the present government by exercising their franchise and rejected previous regime, who have neglected urban as well as rural areas in the development process.

She said government is initiating numerous reformative and exemplary steps for faster development of all the regions of the state. She said it is the endeavour of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah that construction of dozens of new mini and mega projects under various sectors have been approved by Centre Government in the state. Referring to various welfare schemes launched by the government for upliftment of weaker sections of the society, Social Welfare Minister asked the people to come forward and take full benefits of these schemes. She reiterated that every destitute person of the state would be covered under the benefits of welfare schemes adding that accountability and transparency would be brought in distribution system of financial aid among needy ones.

Ms Sakina Ittoo said that 4.92 lakh destitute and old age persons of the state would be covered under the benefits of Integrated Social Security Scheme and old age pension scheme in the state.

This was the first public meeting of Ms Sakina Ittoo after her cabinet birth in state Ministry. A grand and rousing reception was given by the people of South Kashmir at her arrival at the venue and enroute to Anantnag a number of people met the Minister and apprised about their demands and problems. She gave a patient hearing to them and assured that government would redress all genuine demands in a time-bound manner.
