Joint mechanism to curb pilferage of food grains during transportation

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today exhorted upon the Food Corporation India (FCI) and CAPDS functionaries to conduct joint inspections to ensure that the food grains lifted from (FCI) godowns reaches the distribution points to curb the pilferage during transportation.

The Div Com was speaking at a meeting convened to review the supply and stock position of food grains and other essential commodities in the Jammu division.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Mr T Angchuk, Director, CAPDS Mr. H.K.Sharma, Manager FCI, Mr. T R Gupta and other senior officers attended the meeting.

Dr Kotwal asked the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division to constitute squads to conduct random checks on the movement of the truckloads of food grains in their respective areas and DC Kathua and DC Jammu will set up check posts on national highway Kathua and railway station Jammu respectively with representatives from FCI, CA & PDS and revenue. These squads will check the challans of the trucks heading towards different locations and fix stamps accordingly authenticating the quantity of good grains.Thes posts shall conduct checkings around the clock and convey the details to the next delivery points. . All the DCs should deliver a daily report in their regard indicating the number of trucks and quantity of food grains transported.

Dr Kotwal asked the FCI authorities to ensure that the food grains starting from their godowns reaches the godowns at district headquarters and also asked for constructing their own godowns at district to curtail the losses during storage.
