Old city residents hold protest against water scarcity


To register their resentment against the acute shortage of drinking water in their areas, residents of Purani Mandi, Afghana Mohalla, Chowk Chabutra, Mohalla Paharian, Pacca Danga, Kali Janni, Khilonewali Gali, Kachi Chawni, Parade and Raj Tilak Road today held massive protest demonstration against the PHE department. Hundreds of protestors led by led by BJP State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi were raising slogans against the departments and the concerned minister. They shouted the slogans like "paani do paani do, yaa Gaddi shod do" (Supply regular water or quit). They also broke the empty earthen pots. The protestors on the occasion criticized the government for not providing the regular waster supply to the people in such a scorching hot season. In these days, when the temperature is crossing 44 degrees and there is dire need of drinking water, the department has failed to ensure its regular supply, Yudhvir Sethi said while addressing the protesters. He further said that while the higher officials are busy in pleasing the PHE minister, the later is making all efforts to harass the class IVth employees on one pretext or the other. Demanding regular supply of drinking water, Yudhvir Sethi advised the department not to test the patience of the public and take effective steps to ensure regular supply or they should be ready to face the wrath of the people. Ramnik Gupta, Anil Masoom, Ashok Gupta, Vikrant Singh, Bittu Pradhan, Geega, Kapil Mahajan, Sanju, Ajay Gupta and Parvesh Kumar were prominent among those who took part in the protest demonstration.
