Rs. 7.65 cr earmarked for revival of 5 industrial units: Slathia

JKIL 143rd BoD meet held

In a significant decision, the state government has decided to revive the functioning of 5 government industrial units in the state. Rs. 7.65 crore has been earmarked for their revamp and infrastructure development.

This decision was taken in the 143rd Board of Directors meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Industries Limited (JKIL), held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia.

These industrial units are Joinery Mills, Bari-Brahmna and Pampore, Silk weaving Factory, Rajbagh, Government Bemina Woolen Mill, Bemina and Government Knitting Factory, Jammu.

Managing Director, JKIL, Mr Shahnaz Ahmed Tak informed the meeting that the Corporation has achieved Actual Budget Performance of Rs.13.54 crore during the last fiscal and set the target of Rs. 15.70 crore for the current fiscal.

He further informed the meeting that the management of JKI has received an order of Rs, 3.60 crore for providing deodar wood paneled door shutters from various contractors of Delhi Development Authority. An order of Rs. 50 lakh from Indian Tourism Development Corporation, New Delhi also, he added.

Commissioner Secretary, Finance, Mr Sudanshu Pandey, Commissioner Secretary, Forest, Mr. Shantmanu, Secretary, Planning, Mr. Yehdullah, Director, JKI Board Mr. Manzoor Ahmed attended the meeting.

The meeting held detailed discussions on various agenda points including revolving funds, restoration of plan assistance and financial assistance to the employees suffering from chronic diseases.

The minister called for effecting recoveries from various departments and organizations against the JKIL’s land transferred to them in the past.

Slathia visits Handloom Development Corporation, inspects wool design dev project

Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia today visited State Handloom Development Corporation at Solina and inspected Wool & Woolen Design Development Project being established under the Prime Ministers Economic Package for the economic upliftment of handloom weavers in the state.

Managing Director of the Corporation briefed the Minister and gave detailed account of the project and the development of the samples of new product range and retrieval of ancient 17th and 18th century motifs in Royal Pashmina Shawls.

He was also apprised of tie up between the world acclaimed fabric giant M/S Reid & Taylor and the corporation for supply of poshish tweeds, shawls and woolen blankets which is likely to boost the employment avenues in the corporation.

The Minister expressed satisfaction over the pace of development on wool and woolen design development project and the efforts put in to re- invigorate the working of the corporation.

Addressing the employees, the Minister said that some land mark decisions have been taken in the recently held BOD meeting for welfare of employees. He said the Corporation would be provided with adequate working for achieving the objectives.

The Minister said the government would also help the Corporation for establishing its own showrooms in main city centers of State and country. He sought the cooperation of employees and workers in translating the proposed programme in reality and assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into.
