85 works under NREGA completed in Budgam

National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA is one of the most important schemes which is generating employment in Jammu and Kashmir State. The state officers are trying to fully implement the scheme so that the benefits are fully availed by the state and the menace of un-employment countered. Since its implementation in the state, officers are monitoring the implementation of various flagship schemes like NREGA, BRGF, TSC, model villages, PMGSY etc which have been instrumental in changing the rural landscape and also increasing the living standard of people living in rural and far-flung areas.

The Act guarantees at least 100 days of employment as unskilled labour to at least one adult member of any rural household that registers for employment under it.
In district Budgam of Kashmir Division alone as many as 315 various rural development works which were taken in hand under NREGA are going apace at a cost of Rs. 4.43 crore. Of these, 85 works have been completed so far.

According to District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Muhammad Rafi, an amount of Rs 1.24 crores have been spent on various works out of Rs. 2.50 crore earmarked for the purpose. While over 1.24 crore mandays have been generated so far in the Budgam district.

DDC also sought from the concerned officers to redouble their efforts to complete all the ongoing schemes within the schedule period and also create awareness among the ruralities particularly living in remote areas regarding the State and centrally sponsored schemes.
