Six road projects at Rs 24 Cr coming up in Kishtwar

J&K head towards road connectivity to inaccessible areas

If a government can ensure easy connectivity between different regions, between villages and towns, between farms and markets, we can spread prosperity. It seems that Jammu and Kashmir Minister for R&B, G.M Saroori has realized that fact so he opined that the road connectivity to all inaccessible areas of the state will change the conditions villages and villagers.

As the minister hails from the erstwhile district Doda which has only 9 % road connectivity, so it is obvious those people have high expectation from him and also the minister seems a bit concerned to improve the connectivity of district.

The minister on Thursday laid foundation of 6 road projects in Kishtwar district which has been curved out of erstwhile Doda district. These projects are coming up under PMGSY at a cost of Rs. 24 crore.

Among these six projects, Rs. 3.85 crore have been earmarked for Kuriya Keshwan- Shanna Mangthala road. This would connect a large population living in the adjacent villages of Shanna Mangthala and Kuriya Keshwan areas. Rs. 50 lakh for premixing of first 2 kms of the road out of state sector has been released.

Foundation of 6.2 kms Dedpath-Tagodd road was also laid which will be completed at a cost of Rs. 3.43 crore. Besides Rs. 50 lakh have also been released for a small bridge at Bongam.

Another road Shivnagar- Sarawan which is 13.50 kms long will be completed road at a cost of Rs. 6.27 crore.

Thatri bridge is coming at a cost of Rs. 10.68 crore, which will give connectivity to large population of Barshall. Rs. 1.40 crore have been incurred on the project so far and bridge would be ready by ending March 2010.

3.5 kms Udil Gujral Batwari road costing Rs. 2.04 crores, 7.65 kms length Gurinal road and 3 Kms Chatroo- Maliknar road being constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.25 crore and Rs. 1.85 crore respectively.

The R&B Minister, G.M Saroori said, “My priority is to increase road connectivity in those areas which have less road connectivity, particularly in the erstwhile district Doda having only 9% road connectivity.” He added, “Even former Chief Minister CM) Ghulam Nabi Azad had a dream to provide road connectivity to the people, living in inaccessible and remote areas of the district, who have to travel long distances to reach main roads”.
