Dream of the people turned into reality after 60 years: Saroori

The dreams of people living in Inshan village of Kishtwar district, which remained unconnected to road since its existence, are turning into reality as the first ever passenger bus entered into Inshan.

The efforts behind turning the dream of the Inshan people into reality are of Minister for R&B, G.M Saroori. The bus will has started run on trial basis from Anantnag via Mati Gowren -Margan-Top and ultimately reached to its destination, Inshen, a remote and backward village of the district.

Thousand of the jubilant people of Inshan and surrounding villages welcome the passenger bus on its maiden entry into the area on Monday.

On this Minister for R&B, G.M Saroori said, “This has become really a history for the people of Inshan, who first time saw the vehicle in their village since it has come into existence.”

Saroori who himself was happy for the contribution he made in fulfilling the cherished dream of the Inshan people into a reality, appreciated the efforts of the engineers, particularly Superintending Engineer, Sheikh Abdul Hameed, who worked tirelessly day and night and ensured early completion of the road.

Saroori talked about the importance and need of the road, and added that the road will not only save the time of the locals who had to travel for hours to reach the other villages and areas, but will improve their economy to a large extent.

Saroori said that people had to purchase essentials on exorbitant rates as they had to transport the goods on ponies resulting in to price hike. Many a time even patients have lost their lives on way to Hospital because of in travel, adding pregnant women suffered the most, minister added.

Saroori mentioned that work on the road was started in 2003 but work on the project was accelerated for early compellation of this road, adding it would be up-graded in a phased manner up to blacktopping level. Saroori said that for up-gradation of the road the funds would be sought from Centre under Prime Ministers’ Reconstruction Programme (PMRP).

Saroori said that the funds earmarked for development of Roads and Buildings sector for current fiscal once utilized in full would definitely transform the scenario of the State. He sought that engineers should accelerate the pace on all the projects keeping in view the weather constraints.

The Minister disclosed that Rope Way project at Sarkoat- Pochhal, Thakrai- Kishtwar would be introduced on trial basis, adding once the service proves successful it would be introduced in Kupwara-Machal and other hilly areas of the state as an alternate road connectivity.
