A High Level Central Team, led by the Cabinet Secretary, Mr. K. M. Chandrasekhar, called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, here today and discussed with him various issues relating to the development of the State of
The main projects and schemes which came under discussion during the meeting between the Governor and the Central Team included issues relating to the implementation of Annual Plan 2009-10, the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan and other major infrastructure development projects. The construction of the Katra-Qazigund stretch of the Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project, tapping the vast hydel power potential of the State, putting the State’s economic development on the fast track, employment generation, tourism promotion, road connectivity, growth of animal husbandry, dairy, cooperatives, fisheries, education, horticulture, agriculture, forestry and other sectors were discussed.
The overall security situation in the State was also reviewed during the Governor’s meeting with the Union Secretaries for Home and Defence.
The Governor emphasized the need for the efficient and time-bound completion of all the important development projects to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach the people without any delay.
Among the Union Secretaries present in the meeting were Secretary, Coordination, Cabinet Secretariat, Mr. Ajit Seth, Secretary Planning Commission, Ms. Sudha Pillai, Home Secretary, Mr. G. K. Pillai, Power Secretary, Mr. H. S Brahma, Defence Secretary, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Tourism Secretary, Mr. Sujit Banerjee, Secretary Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Brahm Dutt, Secretary Department of Education and Literacy, Ms. Anshu Vaish, Textiles Secretary, Ms. Rita Menon, Secretary Department of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Rudra Gangadharan, Secretary Water Resources, Mr. U. N. Panjiar, Secretary Department of Higher Education, Mr. R. P. Agarwal and Special Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. S. Krishnan.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Raj Kumar Goyal also participated in the meeting.
