Kashmir celebrates worldwide 350 International Climate Day

*Abnormal growth of Russian Popular Trees reason for causing pollution

Today when 350 International Climate Action Day is being celebrated throughout the world, Kashmir has proved fortunately pollution free as compared to other parts of the world. The purpose of celebrating 350 worldwide is to make people aware about dangers of global warming.

The 350 day was celebrated in Maldives where President of that country held underwater cabinet meeting. On Hindukush mountain of Afghanistan, youth painted 350 on the summit of the mountain. In China, the same formation was made on the Great Wall of China, followed by 300 actions in China. On the banks of Dead Sea, bordering Israel, Jordan and Palestine 350 formation was made as a symbol of unanimity towards 350. Today on Mt. Everest a flag of 350 has been mounted by members of 350.

The most important formation of 350 was made in three continents, while 3 was inscribed in USA, 5 was inscribed in New Delhi as Centre of Asia and 0 was formed in Sydney, Australia. The satellite picture of this formation was today taken and these photographs and pictures have been projected in Times Square, New York.

Alongwith the same event, Srinagar established its historical presence in this global movement of climate action when hundreds of Shikaras made 350 formation in the Centre of Dal Lake, which was shown live by worldwide media alongwith all these events. The Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Renzu, Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Mr. Irfan Zafar Yasin, Organisers of India Youth Climate Network (IYCN)/350-Org, Mr. Owais Rahim and Ms. Ritu Asrani were present besides large number of participants and worldwide media. From Shankracharya and Kohi Suleman hills the live pictures of this historical formation were taken and transmitted worldwide.

On this occasion, Director Information and Vice Chairman LAWDA highlighted historical importance of Kashmir Valley, which is known as Heaven on Earth. They said that the successful campaign effectively implemented during current summer against use of polythene was the part of anti pollution campaign and now people should be made aware that Russian popular trees are anti-environment and pollution creating material.

Director Information said that as per the experts these Russian popular trees are extracting water table of earth and rendering the place infertile and causing pollution. In case 350 level is to be maintained Kashmir should be kept popular free zone.

Today world was able to know that Kashmir is still maintaining its 350 level and all measures are required to be taken to maintain the same level. In contrast, others metropolitan cities and other parts of world have earned 387 pollution level which is alarming.
