Stresses the need for devising Agri calendar
Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today directed immediate despatching of seeds to far flung areas of the state in view of the approaching winter and Rabi season.
Chairing a meeting of officers to review the supply and distribution of seeds, the Minister directed immediate dumping of seeds at places like Karnah, Machil, Keran, Gurez, Leh and Kargil. These areas remain out of bounds during winter season due to heavy snow. He directed that the seeds at these places be dumped within a shortest possible time.
Mr. Mir directed the SKUAST to distribute their share of seeds in a cluster manner in order to monitor their performance. He was informed that the university has produced adequate quantity of seeds as per the indent of the department of agriculture.

The Minister also reviewed the availability of agricultural appliances and equipments. He said mechanised farming is very important to give the agriculture sector a boost. He also stressed the importance of devising a calendar of agriculture activities throughout the year.
