Omar interacts with thousands in Anantnag Awami Mulaqat

The concept of Awami Mulaqat initiated by young Chief Minister of J&K State, Mr. Omar Abdullah bringing entire government to the doorsteps of people is attaining popularity as thousands of delegations and people thronged from wee hours at Anantnag to have one to one meeting with the Chief Minister

Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today reached Anantnag along with cabinet Ministers Peerzada Mohammad Syed, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon, Advisor Mr. Mubarak Gul, Member Parliament Dr.Mehboob Baig, MLC Mr. Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, Director General of Police Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and other Principal Secretaries, Commissioner Secretaries, Head of Departments and other senior Civil and Police officers. Where thousand of people were present to submit their demands.

Representatives of the people, delegation of all adjoining villages, persons from different walks of life were given free access to the Chief Minister enabling them to discuss different issues with them in a free and frank atmosphere. The Chief Minister after giving patient hearing to each issue and discussing the same with administrative machinery presented on spot issued appropriate orders. Wherever he found that any collective demand of any delegation was genuine and needs immediate action he in consultation with the concerned cabinet minister, concerned Commissioner Secretary and concerned Head of Department took the decision for immediate redressal. The issues which were pending for decades together were solved on spot.

The single line administration which was started by Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah always proved helpful in taking district level decision and it was continued by all of his successors. The Awami Mulaqat concept of deciding individual cases and the area wise cases with entire administration available to listen the cases in detail and taking appropriate decision on the spot has been appreciated throughout the State and is being considered as one step ahead of single line administration. The confidence of the people is getting day by day strengthened when Chief Minister remains available with them alongwith the entire administrative machinery.

The Anantnag today had a festive look when people heard that the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah will be stationed in the district and meeting people individually and collectively. The problems with regard to irrigation, PHE, Water supply, de-silting of canals, repair of transformers, installation of electric poles, ST & HT lines, repair and reconstruction of roads, lanes and by-lanes were presented before the Chief Minister who continued to issue on spot decision on each issue.

Delegation of unemployed youth also called on the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister while interacting with them said that the state government is working on various mega projects which will help in creating entrepreneur friendly atmosphere in the State. He said that keeping in view the saturation in the government sector with regard to employment the problems of unemployed youth can be resolved only when tourism, industrial, Information Technology and other entrepreneur oriented projects are encouraged in a massive manner so that lacks of youth are able to get jobs in private sector, particularly those who has attained expertise and skills in respective fields.

Various delegations brought appraised the Chief Minister about issues like establishment of schools, colleges, primary level health centres, anganwadi centres were given patient hearing and the concerned ministers were advised to get all these demands properly surveyed as per the real requirement of the area. The Chief Minister advised health department to augment health infrastructure in such units where it was reported by people to be lacking. He also advised social welfare department to give more attention to mitigate the problems of destitutes, orphans and living below poverty line.

The delegation from upper reaches of Pahalgam demanded that keeping in view ensuing winter, adequate ration, K. oil and other essential commodities may be kept in stock in their respective areas as is being done in far-flung areas. The Chief Minister advised Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon to depute team of officers to these areas for taking appropriate measures.

The individual SRO cases, the relaxation of rules for some cases were also brought before the Chief Minister who has communicated the same to General Administration Department for taking decision before Darbar Move. Some individuals cases where passport clearance had not been issued on the plea of involvement of some kiths and kin in militancy activities, the Chief Minister said that policy of his government is very clear that the passport clearance for any individual who is not himself involved in any kind of militancy should be given without any delay, irrespective of the fact whether his close or far off relation is involved or not. He passed such cases to Director General of Police for immediate clearance.

The Chief Minister also advised Director General of Police to provide immediate financial assistance to one constable of Auxiliary police whose both eyes were damaged due to query stone blasting .
