The Galaxy of intellectuals, Scholars, writers, artists, film makers, theatre stars today assembled at concluding 30-day theatre festival organized by Mushtaq Ali in association with Cultural Academy on North Zone Cultural Council here at Tagore Hall.
The prominent personalities of literature, art and film spoke on the occasion. The presidium comprised of Mr Ghulam Nabi Khayal, Khawja Farooq Ahmed Renzu, Mr Farooq Nazki, Mr. Rafiq Masoodi and Mrs. Hashmi.
While addressing the concluding function unanimously, they said that the workshop was of high success and thousands of people were attracted during these 30-day towards this historical workshop.
While welcoming the Chief guests and prominent personalities Mr. Mushtaq Ali expressed his gratitude to all star performers and various theatre groups who made this workshop a success. The artists, producers including Ayash Arif, Gul Javid, Qazi Faiz, Mushtaq Bawa, Shakeel-ur-Rehman and other persons were honoured on the occasion.
While speaking Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, Mr. Rafiq Masoodi said that Doordarshan will play vital role in presenting Kashmir theatre in a better manner so that its glory is revived.
Director Information, Khawja Farooq Renzu while speaking on the occasion, said that Kashmir is the epitome of intellect. He said that history is witness to the fact that since time memorial Kashmir was seat of knowledge and education. He said that 1400 years before when China was being considered as educationally superior at that time also Chinese travelers were coming to Kashmir for much more superior knowledge which was acknowledgment of the fact that Kashmir had no parallel in world in the field of intellect and knowledge. He said that because of the superior infrastructure, Britian was able to present its theatre in 18th century in a better manner. But if literary records are scrutinized, during 18th centaury, the best theatre presentations were made in Kashmir, he added.
Khawja Farooq Renzu said that now Kashmir is again attaining its lost status of being epicentre of knowledge. The way education is spreading colleges, universities are being established, is a clear proof that people are shifting back towards real pursuit of knowledge. The success of 30-day theatre workshop is also one of the important component of revival of intellectual activities in the valley.
On this occasion, Mr. Farooq Nazki, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Mrs. Hashmi spoke in detail on various components of theatre and its impact on life style of the people.
