Rs 73.15 Cr JKPCC works in Rajouri

Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Company (JKPCC) has been asked to expedite work on the ongoing schemes to ensure accelerated infrastructure development in the border and far-flung district of Rajouri. A 200-bedded hospital with IPD and OPD facilities is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 36.36 crore. While work on one of the three blocks is nearing completion, the remaining two blocks are likely to be completed by next year. At Degree College, Thannamandi, the Minister took round of the newly constructed complex completed at a cost of Rs. 5.75 crore. He was informed that the building has been handed over to the Higher Education department. At Hanjana, Nowshera, Mr. Dar inspected the under-construction 313 meter span double-lane bridge over Rajouri Tawi river. He was informed that work is in full swing on the prestigious project which will reduce the distance between Jammu to Nowshera by 5 km and is estimated to complete by the end of 2010. The Minister asked the executing agency to stick to the targeted timeframe for the project, adding that the construction of the bridge will help in the expansion of the Nowshera town and boost economy of the area. Mr. Dar also visited the construction sites of 150 meter span single-lane and 152 meter double-lane motorable bridges over Rajouri Tawi river at Narian and Muradpur respectively in Rajouri tehsil. He also inspected the 40 meter span single-lane motorable steel bridge at Kotedhar to Peeri road being constructed at a cost of Rs. 92 lakh. The bridge will be commissioned by January 15. Enroute, the Minister inspected Community Health Centre, Thannamandi and roads between Thannamandi to Shahdra Sharief. During the last leg of his tour, Mr. Dar convened an officers’ meeting of Health and Medical Education, Agriculture, Floriculture and R&B departments at the district headquarters and reviewed their functioning. He asked the officers to closely monitor the works on ground and stick to the timeframe fixed for the projects.
