Takes stock of ongoing work of Jati, Yarbug, Juhama bridges
Minister for R&B, G.M Saroori today visited Rajwar, Dudipora, Machipora, Zachaldara and Shrakwara and took stock of the ongoing development works in these areas.
Minister of State for R&B, Javeed Ahmad Dar, MLA Handwara, Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan, MLA Sangrama, Basharat Bukhari, senior engineers of R&B besides officers of various departments accompanied the Minister.
The Minister laid foundation of 5.5 km long Potukhah-Mungam-Wagura road coming up at a cost of Rs. 2.68 crore. He also inspected Bonpora–Nichhama road coming up at cost of Rs. 1.20 crore.
The Minister was informed that Rs. 20 lakhs have been incurred on Bonpora –Nichhama road so far. The Minister also released Rs. 10 lakh for expansion of Behki Haka bridge.
Saroori also inspected ongoing work of Jati bridge coming up at a cost of Rs. 20.50 crore, Yarbug bridge coming up at cost of Rs. 2.95 crore and Juhama bridge on for which Rs. 4.38 crore have been earmarked. The minister was informed that Rs. Rs. 3.34 crore have been spent on Jati bridge, while on Yarbug bride Rs. 95 lakh and on Juhama bridge Rs. 2.90 crore have been expended so far.
The Minister asked the JKPCC authorities to ensure completion of all these five bridge, including Azad Gunj and Chati Padshahi Singh bridge by March end 2010. He was informed that Rs. 5.15 crore have been incurred on construction of Azad Gunj bridge out of total estimated cost of Rs. 10.75 crore, while on Chati Padshahi Singh bridge Rs. 5 crore have been spent so far out of total estimated cost of Rs. 6.79 crore.
Speaking to the people at Shrakwara, Saroori asked people to cooperate with the Government and executing agencies in completing the development projects. He said the liberal financial assistance from Centre would definitely change the map of the state, adding the “Khushhal Kashmir” a dream of the former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad would be turned into reality by the mutual efforts of the coalition government.
Saroori said that unemployment, a big challenge, is high on agenda of the government. He appealed people to come forward and take the benefits of the schemes launched by the government at different levels.
Saroori said that the public representatives should monitor themselves the developmental works and give their feedback and opinion while formulating plans of their constituencies. He said constructive criticism is a part of democracy and government would encourage such things.
Javeed Ahmad Dar, Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan, Basharat Bukhari, Senior Vice President of Congress Mohammad Ramzan Parray and district president Mir Mushtaq Nawshehri also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the policies and programmes of the collation government.
