Rousing reception to NSUI National Gen. Secy. Shahnawaz at Surnkote

RAJOURI, DEC 4 The people and the activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) J&K, and Youth Cadre of district Poonch accorded a rousing reception National General Secretary NSUI, Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary , who arrived at Surnkote, home town for the first time after his nomination by Sh. Rahul Gandhi in August 2009. A large number of NSUI activists’ received at Jaran Wali Gali by garlanding him profusely. Later he was brought to Dak Banglow Surnkote, in the shape of a procession. Along the way the activists danced to the tunes of drums beats and celebrated the appointment of Shahnawaz by distributing sweets to the students and general public. It is pertinent to mention here that Mr. Mohd Shahnawaz is among the only five General Secretaries and only from the North India in a high level team of (NSUI National Students Union of India) constituted by Sh. Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Incharge of NSUI, through the process of talent hunt.. Also it is for the first time that a youth from Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed at such a high level in the student wing of the congress Party. At Dak Banglow Surnkote an impressive function was organised to honour Shahnawaz. local congress leaders, youth cadre of the party senior citizens and NSUI leaders addressed the gathering. All the leaders congratulated Mr. Shanawaz,and expressed happiness on his inclusion in the National Body They expressed gratitude to Sh. Rahul Gandhi for giving representation to the youth of Poonch district, which is the most excluded region of our times. During the function Mr Shanawaz was garlanded by the senior leaders and a Shawl was presented to him. They described the inclusion of Shahnawaz as historic as nobody ever has got an opportunity to serve the congress party at National Level. Adressing the gathering Sahnawaz said that it is a great feeling of being recognised by your own people and I will stand by the people of Poonch in their struggle to get the region its due right in every sector including education. Shahnawaz expressed his deep sense of gratitude and thanks to Sh. Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary AICC, Incharge NSUI , Ms Meenakshi Natrajan AICC Secretary, In charge NSUI and to Sh. Hibi Eden, National President NSUI. He posed full faith in the leadership of Hibi Eden, National President NSUI. He said the he will leave no stone unturned to project the cause of students of the country and to get justice to them. He urged the NSUI activists to work with discipline and dedication to get success and promotion in NSUI. He announced that very soon he would be taking up the issue of opening of Degree College at Surnkote with the Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Eductaion. He also advised the NSUI activists to chalk out a strategy of protest for the demand of Degree College, if it is not don e peacefully. He critised the step motherly attitude of earlier and present government and said that inspite of the repeated promises of by Congress, PDP and NC no initative has been taken to open a degree College at Surnkote, a town of more than 40000 popultion, whoever at various places in Jammu, Srinagar and in few other districts colleges have been announced at the places where population size is below 20,000 and has no road connectivity. Other who spoke on the occasion addressed Ahmed Ganai, Azhar, asif karmani Chetan Mishri, Fayaz Manhas, Ashfaq Ahmed,, Akil Ishtaiq, Shoket Ali Javied and Younis,Raj Kamal Arya, Sidhrath Pathania, Ajaz Mehr. Mr. Aress Ahmed Ganie prpresented the vote of thanks and described the appointment of Shawanaz as the reward by Sh. Rahul Gandhi for his dedication discipline and loyality to the organisation and a recogonisation of the potential, political acumen and leadership qualities possessed by Mr. Shahnawz.
