Lone review arrangements for ensuing Assembly session

Asks officers to close coordination for smooth conduct of the session

Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today convened a meeting of officers to review the arrangements being made for forthcoming Assembly session which begins on July 27, 2009.

Mr. Lone asked the administration and the police to coordinate and put in place a foolproof mechanism to ensure smooth conduct of the session.

Threadbare discussion were held with regard to issues like security, traffic management, drinking water, power supply, coverage of the proceedings of the House, medical facilities and issuance of entry passes.

Speaker directed the Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Ramzan to nominate two officers who will issue passes to the visiting officers, officials and prominent personalities. He asked the health department to provide adequate medical facilities with well equipped ambulances. Mr. Lone also directed them to ensure punctuality of the detailed staff during the session.

Mr. Lone directed the officers of Hospitality and Protocol to install permanent waterproof shamiyana with sufficient number of easy chairs for the use of officers, personal staff of legislators, press people and other guests within the premises of the complex. He asked the power department to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the entire session. PHE authorities were asked to provide adequate supply of drinking water.

The Speaker asked the Information department to keep harmonious relations between the press and legislature and to ensure a proper, sufficient and due coverage of the proceedings of the House. He directed the authorities of Government Press to ensure immediate and timely supply of Parliamentary Papers like A. Q lists and Bills. The meeting was informed that the work under execution on partition of the corridor will be completed before July 27, 2009.

District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Meharj Ahmad Kakroo also briefed the meeting about the arrangements made for smooth conduct of the session.

Senior offices and representatives of all the departments including Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
