The Minister said this while interacting with the staff of Govt. Women’s college, M.A.Road Srinagar here today.
Mr. Malik stressed for conducting of debates on current affairs so that students become aware about the developmental taking place at the national and international level. He also stressed for inviting experts from outside the state to participate in these debates to make higher education more vibrant. He admired the functioning of the college and directed for exploring possibilities to run evening classes in the state to optimally utilize the precious and valuable time of students.
He said that congenial class room atmosphere and work culture has to be developed in colleges to compete with the world level in academic as well as research fields.’
The Minister stressed upon the teachers to work with missionary spirit and proper coordination and ensure quality education to the students.
The Minister also emphasized to improve the quality and reach of education as it holds the key for all round development.
Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment went round the college, interacted with the students, inspected the on-going development works and visited the Lala Arifa Auditorium, Gym Centre and newly constructed hostel in the college. The Minister felt the need of a guest room in the college.
Mr. Malik also had tele-conference with the students of Amar Singh college and Degree college Tral on educational satellite facility functioning in the college.
The educational satellite units in the college is connected with 60 satellite interactive terminals located in 25 higher secondary schools, 22 colleges and 13 poly-techniques and ITI in the state.
Director colleges Prof. N. D. Wani accompanied the Minister during his visit.
Earlier, Principal Dr. Zeenat Ara while giving the resume of college said that 600 students are en-rolled in the institution which has been a torch bearer in the field of education from its very inception in 1950.
