KU set to host Buddhist Conference

The University of Kashmir is all set to host an important conference on Buddhist Studies from October 5. The 3-day conference is being organised by the varsity’s Department of Sanskrit to observe the 9th Annual Session of Indian Society for Buddhist Studies.

The KU vice-chancellor, Prof Riyaz Punjabi will preside over the conference, to be held in the Convocation Complex. The Minister for Education, Prizada Muhammad Sayeed will be the chief guest on the occasion while SL Bhat, chairman, Public Service Commission will be the guest of honour. The Conference will start at 11 AM.

The Head, Department of Sanskrit, Prof S Razdhan, said the Conference aims at discussing and debating certain vital issues pertaining to the Buddhist Studies. She said a number of scholars are expected to present their papers in the Conference. “We are hopeful that the Conference will address some key issues concerning Buddhist studies today,” she said.
